The Project

Work on this project mainly concentrated on improvements to the existing water and sewer infrastructure.

During the course of the works Farrans installed in excess of 50km of water pipeline, over 2000 services and meter box renewals, reconstructed a series of sea outfalls along the Fife coast, carried out installation and repair to sewer networks and successfully completed the removal over 2000 cross connections eliminating the scour facility from water networks direct into the sewerage network.

We also carried out a significant programme of C4 works to assist Scottish Water in the delivery of water and sewer works in support of externally funded projects.

For the mains rehabilitation works Farrans was responsible for design development of the concept design, planning and programming the works, submission and agreement of ATC’s, liaison with all stakeholders and in particular the local roads authorities, all relevant consultations and noticing, execution of the works and preparation and submission of the handover packs on completion.

Services & Expertise

To facilitate this programme of works we developed a standalone utilities office and yard at Livingston to house our delivery team consisting of civil engineers, water industry managers and site agents, customer care officers, estimators, quantity surveyors and administration staff.

We were also selected as a Delivery Partner for the Q&SIIIB framework to assist Scottish Water in the delivery of their programme of works.
