Lisa Wins Impact Award For Championing Mental Health
Farrans Training & Development Coordinator and Mental Health Champion, Lisa Haycock, has been crowned Winner in the Individual Champion at a Large Organisation category at the 2020 Mates in Mind Impact Awards.
In recent years, Lisa has led an outstanding effort to bring mental wellbeing to the top of the agenda at Farrans and to encourage a leadership culture founded in empathy.
Mental health awareness is now integral in how our company operates on a daily basis.
Our employees have access to trained Mental Health First Aiders across all locations in the UK and Ireland and free access to counselling support and virtual GP services.
We are conscious of the link between creative or physical activities and wellbeing, putting in place initiatives such lunchtime Arts & Crafts, free Spin classes and Pilates workouts accordingly.
We also have our eyes open to the stark fact that workers in our sector are more likely than any others to take their own lives.
Lisa therefore coordinated workshops with professional actors to convey an employee struggling with apparent work issues on-site – a situation which ‘brought reality home’ for many of our people managers, showing that difficult conversations around professional performance must not ignore the ‘human’ element.
Culture of Kindness and Awareness
Farrans Deputy Managing Director, Dominic Lavery, congratulated Lisa for her third award this year.
“Congratulations to Lisa for her tremendous work in promoting mental health and wellbeing at Farrans.
“The theme of this year’s Mental Health Awareness campaign has been ‘kindness’ – something which really couldn’t be more relevant within the Farrans team in recent weeks.
“We have been inspired by the demonstration of kindness, selflessness, generosity and team spirit, with our people pulling together to help others, including the most vulnerable in our local communities.
“Well done to Lisa and all our employees within Farrans who work hard to support and develop this culture.”
