Trea Crozier wins Inspirational Leader at the Inspiring Women in Construction and Engineering Awards

19.09.2024

We are thrilled to share that our Commercial Framework Manager Trea Crozier won the Inspirational Leader in the Contractor Category at the 2024 CN, GE & NCE Inspiring Women in Construction & Engineering this week.

The Judges described Trea as ‘a role model in her role…a leader and an innovator who is truly making a difference’.

Since qualifying with a BSc Hons in Construction Engineering and Management 19 years ago Trea Crozier has progressed quickly through the ranks, working in the building, fit-out, civil and utilities divisions. As Commercial Manager for a Capital Delivery Integrated Partnership Framework with NI Water, Trea leads a large commercial team in the management of projects, including trunk mains and Waste Water Treatment Work upgrades, ensuring both Farrans and NI Water’s targets are successfully met.

Trea is passionate about the role of women within the industry and works hard to encourage more girls to consider the varied careers in construction.

Trea said: As a woman in the industry diversity and inclusion is close to my heart. There is definitely more diversity in the industry now, but the pace of growth has been slower than I would like. I think the benefits of having a more diverse workforce aren’t fully recognised, even though that data has shown that increased diversity grows the bottom line. The industry needs to diversify if we are going to make it appealing to the younger generations.”

The awards, which celebrated the role models and organisations empowering women in construction and engineering, were hosted by Construction News, Ground Engineering and New Civil Engineer.

Construction News editor Colin Marrs said “We had a staggering number of entries this year. Each and every one is another important chip away at the idea that construction is a man’s job. By coming together with male allies at our conference and awards ceremony, we are proud to provide a hub of support and exchange.”

New Civil Engineer editor Gavin Pearson commented “Our industry’s lack of gender equality has held us back for too long, so there is something inspiring about an event that can bring together and celebrate the successes across industry and share the aspiration to go further and do more.

We hope that by telling the stories that deserve to be told, not only do we get to celebrate inspiring women across our industry, but perhaps in doing so, we can inspire more women to feel that construction will be a great career for them.”
