Progress milestone at City Quays 3 in Belfast
We have reached another progress milestone on our City Quays 3 site in Belfast for our client Belfast Harbour as the tower crane has been taken down.
The 250,000 square feet, 16 storey, City Quays 3 will be the largest commercial office building in Belfast and client Belfast Harbour’s largest property development project.
The crane, a Terex 231-10 TS23, stood at over 80m in height, with the jib length reaching 60m long to cover the entire building. It could lift up to 3.5 tons at the end of the jib.
The project is the latest component of City Quays, a contemporary, sustainable, waterfront development that includes commercial offices, retail, cafes, restaurants and multi-storey car parking, as well as the AC by Marriott Hotel. The area will be amplified by the recent announcement that Belfast Harbour plans to develop a multi-million pound urban garden and public space.
The building is being built to the BREEAM Excellent sustainability standard, placing it in the top 10 per cent of sustainable new buildings in the UK. The new building is also one of the first development projects in the city to incorporate design elements to help navigate the challenges of the pandemic and reduce surface contact in the workplace.
