Farrans joins International Jack up Barge Operators Association as marine portfolio grows

12.11.2021

Farrans Construction has become a member of the International Jack up Barge Operators Association (IJUBOA) as we continue to grow our portfolio of marine projects across the UK and Ireland.

IJUBOA was formed in 2008 with a mission to set, sustain and promote standards for the safe and effective operation of self-elevating platforms throughout the world.

As a Trade Association, IJUBOA offers full membership to jack up barge owners/operators as fully certificated member. It is a membership requirement as an owner/operator that the company applying for membership should now meet the prescribed Code of Practice format as laid down by IJUBOA.

IJUBOA is moving to a position where all its full owner/operator members will without exception hold either full ISM Code covering self- propelled vessels or the IJUBOA CoP or equivalent covering all non -propelled vessels.

Jonny Kerr, civil operations director for Farrans Construction, said: “We have extensive experience of self-delivering some of the largest marine projects in the UK and Ireland, supported by our internal plant capabilities.  Membership of IJUBOA reflects our continued investment in our capabilities in this sector. We are working on a number of high-profile marine projects at the moment and recently completed 12 Quays for Peel Ports, Montrose Port for Montrose Port Authority and we are currently using our marine experience on projects across the UK, from Nigg in Scotland to NEP1 in the North East of England through to the Gull Wing bridge and Great Yarmouth’s Third River Crossing in the South East of England.

“By working with IJUBOA we will continue to set the standards for the industry, be leaders in best practice, have awareness of technological advances in this field and our people will be regularly trained by this professional trade body.”
