Spotlight on safety as Farrans hosts event for 200 water sector professionals in Ireland
This week Farrans hosted a ‘soft start’ event focused on putting the spotlight on safety for over 200 water sector professionals in Ireland as work ramps up again on the North West region under Uisce Éireann‘s new Water and Waste Water Multi-Supplier Framework.
Farrans is responsible for Donegal, Sligo, Roscommon, Galway, Cavan, Leitrim, Monaghan and Mayo.
We have 70 direct staff and over 200 subcontractor staff engaged in this new contract, with 25 squads on the ground working on the installation of new water mains, the rehabilitation of existing mains, leak detection and repairs. The waste water and connection and developer services will commence soon.
The event, which was held at the Clayton Hotel in Sligo, featured presentations from the Safety, Health and Environmental team in Farrans covering key topics including the avoidance of underground utilities, mental health and wellbeing, safe site set ups, traffic management and empowering a stop work and ask ‘Am I safe?’ approach.
It was attended by Farrans’ team members, supply chain and senior Uisce Eireann representatives to encourage a shared mindset from the start of the year.
