SPA wins two national awards for carbon reduction initiative

✨ Anglian Water Services’s Strategic Pipeline Alliance won the Carbon Reduction Award at the National Sustainability Awards and the Carbon Net Zero Initiative of the Year at the British Construction Industry Awards this week. ✨

The Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA) is an alliance of Anglian Water Services (AW), Farrans Construction, Mott MacDonald Bentley | MMB, Costain Group PLC and Jacobs who are contracted to deliver one of the largest infrastructure projects in the UK.

A series of interconnected pipelines will enable Anglian Water to move water from areas with a surplus to areas which are in deficit, making the east of England resilient to drought and securing water supplies for future generations.

Both awards recognised SPA’s disruptive carbon approach in optimising the project’s design. As a result, the project is on track to hit an industry-leading capital carbon reduction of 65%, all while ensuring the outcomes are not compromised.
