Edinburgh Trams to Newhaven wins Project of the Year at the Global Light Rail Awards
Our high-profile transportation project for the City of Edinburgh Council, Edinburgh Trams to Newhaven, won Project of the Year at the Global Light Rail Awards this week.
As part of a joint venture, Sacyr, Farrans and Neopul (SFN) delivered the Main Infrastructure & Systems Contract by the City of Edinburgh Council for the Edinburgh Tram York Place to Newhaven project.
This contract involved the design, construction, system integration, testing and commissioning of the completion of the tram line from Edinburgh Airport to Newhaven and bringing it into service.
The 4.7km route has eight tram stops and completes the tram line, which connects the airport with the city centre. The new tram route runs from York Place down through Leith Walk, Constitution Street, Ocean Terminal and then finishes at Newhaven.
Mainspring’s Global Light Rail Award recognise individuals, teams, and projects for their excellence, achievements and innovation across the light rail and urban transit sector.
Congratulations to the project team and all partners!
