Farrans’ football team raises money for FareShare NI
Storm Agnes didn’t stop our five-a-side team from tackling the Football Fives event at the Valley Leisure Centre last week, raising vital funds for FareShare NI as they played.
Twenty five teams from a range of businesses came together to raise money for their chosen charities.
The tournament format started with an initial round robin playing for position to go into either the Champions League, Europa League or Europa Conference League knockout. The winners of each section received a share of a Charity Prize Pot of £600.
The four champions league semi finalists, Europa league and ECL champions were invited to play in the National Finals at the Stormont Pavilion on Thursday 12th October.
While our team didn’t make it through to the National Final, they were superstars for turning up to play in dramatic weather conditions to fundraise for our chosen charity.
FareShare NI is a Homeless Connect project, and part of the greater FareShare UK network. A network of charitable food distributors; they are the largest local food redistribution organisation in Northern Ireland. FareShare NI takes good quality surplus food from right across the food industry and gets it to frontline charities and community groups.
