500 day milestone on Govan to Partick bridge

24.08.2023

Last week marked another milestone on the Govan to Partick Bridge in Glasgow as we reached 500 days since starting the project.

We are the main contractor on the fabricated steel cable stayed opening swing bridge, for Glasgow City Council as part of the Glasgow City Region Deal.

The £29.5million project includes the construction of a new pedestrian/cycle bridge over the River Clyde between Water Row in Govan and Pointhouse Quay in Partick, a connection that will re-establish the historic link between the two areas.

Progress is continuing at pace. On the North approach at Pointhouse Quay we have completed the structural piling facing into the Rivers Kelvin and Clyde and can now progress with the backfill and subsequent service install behind the walls.

In the Clyde, the South Pier and Pintle have been cast and the temporary works cofferdam will be removed in preparation for delivery of the moving span of the bridge.
