Scotland Results Day: #NoWrongPath to Success
š It’s results day in Scotland and we are supportingĀ DYW ScotlandĀ #NoWrongPathĀ campaign. š
The campaign aims to show young people that their results and circumstances do not define them – there is no wrong path to success.
Our colleague Laura SutherlandĀ provided insight about her transition from school to theĀ #worldofwork.
Laura left school at 15 years old with 3 Standard Grades to work in a local restaurant, then moved into the community, social work and youth work sector at 17 years old. Now she is working in construction while carrying out a PhD in social value at theĀ University of the West of Scotland.
Laura said: “I wasnāt sure what I wanted to become when transitioning into the world of work. What I did know was that I wanted to work.
“I have been very fortunate to have crossed paths with some amazing mentors throughout my life. Without their supp
ort I am not sure where I would have ended up.
“If I had one message for any young person receiving their exam results today it would be: no matter the outcome of your results, please know that they do not define you nor should you allow them to dictate your future!”
