Class of 2022 graduates from Farrans Foundation

Our class of 2022 graduated from Farrans Foundation on Friday, following a two year intensive graduate programme which provides those coming from university with all of the necessary experience and knowledge to fast track a career in construction, quantity surveying and civil engineering.

Congratulations to Richard Fitzsimmons, Caoimhin McKenna, Darren McMullan, James Kilpatrick, Bethan Corns, Eoghan Quinn, Richard Brewster and Ross Neill.

Richard Fitzsimmons was presented with the Graduate of the Year trophy by Dominic Lavery, Managing Director.

Year on year we continue to grow our talent pipeline of Apprentices, Placements and Graduates. Currently they make up 20% of our workforce, 120 employees.

“This group of talent play a crucial role in the success of our business which is why we invest heavily in their progress. They are the ones who will help to provide a better and more sustainable future for generations to come.

“Our thanks must go out to all those involved in facilitating the delivery of the training modules as well as those who assist with the final presentations, and our line managers for the time you put into mentoring and supporting all our younger talent to help them progress in their role.

“In November we were audited by Engineers Ireland who commended us on our graduate programme, in relation to the training delivered and the attention to detail in the Capability Trackers and how they are aligned to the Professional Bodies within our industry i.e. ICE, CIOB, RICS.

“We will continue to review the content and delivery of our programme to ensure it is ‘Best in Class’ to give our graduates the best possible foundation in skills they require to set them up for a successful career.”

Richard Fitzsimmons, Graduate of the Year, said:

“I found the Farrans Foundation to be a really well-delivered and engaging programme. The fact it is all developed and delivered in-house is a great aspect and meant I could readily contact anyone with any queries I had. You get out of it what you put in and I learned so much from the foundation. I was exposed to many different aspects of the business that I wouldn’t normally see in my day-to-day site role and it opened my eyes to future career paths in H&S, Procurement and Quality within Farrans. From a social aspect, it was great working as a team with the other graduates and networking across the various department/division. The training days were great to catch up with everyone.

“The Farrans Foundation was a great transition from classroom-based learning to site-based learning. The Foundation is tailored as a stepping-stone towards achieving chartership status and I will be using the skills I have developed to pursue chartership. My professional approach will be to continue identifying areas of personal improvement, seek out the appropriate training and advice needed to obtain chartership and hopefully pass on some knowledge to the next generation of engineers along the way.”
